The Territory

Bagno di Romagna and its Spas are located inside an uncontaminate natural environment, rich in woods and Forests which are a part of the Foreste Casentinesi, Mount Falterona and Campigna National Park.
You can organize your leisure activities in many different ways choosing amongst Relax, Sports and Culture, always surrounded by the amazing scenery of the Park and in a continuous contact with Nature. Trekking and walking is possible along some simple or even challenging paths as well as long walks in the lush woods like the wonderful Foresta della Lama. You can even take an amusing walk with your children along the fascinating Sentiero degli Gnomi (Gnomes’ Path) in the Realm of Fantasy.

It is also possible to reach in our vicinity some very interesting places like Lago Lungo, Lago dei Pontini and Lago di Acquapartita, little lakes suitable for fishing; the Falls of river Alferello; the Apennine Peaks like Mount Fumaiolo with the Source of river Tevere and Mount Falterona, sacred to the Etruscans,with the Lake of the Idols and the Source of river Arno; the huge work of engineering of the Ridracoli Dam, with its Lake and Museum.

Art and History still live in the walls and buildings of the historic village of Bagno di Romagna, in the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta and in the Palazzo del Capitano (The Residence of the Master of the town in Renaissance times). A stone escutcheon representing two doves,symbol of the Camaldolesi Monks (keepers of the church from 1.200 to 1.800 A.D.), is still placed on the Basilica’s façade. Some important works of art are visible inside the church.

Not far from the basilica you can visit the Palazzo del Capitano where are the escutcheons of the Masters of the town depending on Florentine Administration from 1.400 till 1.860 A.D.
